The military elite have a term for your physical and mental state during life and death situations – moments in which your subconscious must choose between fight-or-flight. They call it ‘condition black.’ The colour code for ‘you’re about to die.’

The Condition Black jacket is not only built to survive these extreme experiences, but to help keep you alive in the aftermath. Built for indestructibility, the Condition Black Jacket featuring ceraspace™ and nanosphere® is like battle armour for snow sports and adventure. It’s designed to help you push your limits in the mountains whether you’re backcountry snowboarding, snowkiting, downhill mountain biking, or skiing off piste.

The Condition Black Jacket incorporates 19 panels of ceraspace – an innovative protection fabric made from ultra lightweight 3D ceramic particles set in a highly flexible skin. We’ve positioned these panels at predicted impact points to limit the chances of rips, which would expose you to the elements. Each uniquely shaped panel has been cut by laser and applied by hand.

Designed for the military, ceraspace is engineered in Switzerland by textile pioneers Schoeller. It can tolerate repeated high-speed falls up to 120kmph and is tough enough to scar rock. The only material in the world that’s harder than ceraspace is diamonds.

The ceraspace panels are:

Abrasion resistant
Water repellent
Heat resistant

Inspired by NASA’s design of the original Apollo 11 spacesuit, the Condition Black Jacket is engineered to increase your chances of survival if something goes wrong. The ceraspace panels stay cool to limit body heat loss. You’ll find glow in the dark instructions printed in your site line for when your brain and body start shutting down and you’re too wasted to think.

And to keep your core organs and vital arteries warm, the jacket has been constructed around two Survival Pockets on the upper chest. Designed to get you into the ideal foetal position, you simply slide your hands into them. Both pockets fasten magnetically, which means they’ll only open when you want them to, and they’re double-lined for warmth.

The Condition Black soft shell offers world class performance and protection. Made with Schoeller’s WB-400 it combines a tough nylon face and nanosphere coating with a fleece inside. The nanotechnology finish gives the jacket a textured surface like a microscopic mountain range, which means water just runs off it and dirt doesn’t stick.

"Any chance you might accidentally hurtle down a remote mountainside, hit rocks along the way, and land in a pile of snow? A new high-tech survival jacket could be the difference between freezing to death and surviving to tell the wild tale."

"With a name taken from military slang for the physiological state induced by life-or-death situations, Vollebak's Condition Black mountain sports and adventure jacket is not for the faint-hearted."

"The Condition Black jacket by Vollebak is designed for some crazy abuse, the kind of abuse that may incapacitate the user, thus requiring the built-in life-saving features."
